Thinking about getting a 300watt inline heater. Would i be able to use it on the hoses for the sunsun. I believe the hose size is 3''

Sounded odd that it would have 3" tubing on that can so i just checked a few sites specs out for it. here is the link to one of them. http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/ViaAqua750CanisterFilter.html It says the sun sun 304 has 5/8th size tubing. The 300 watt hydor heth inline is the same 5/8 i own a couple of them. they are great heaters. and they have screw down tight caps to were the hose connects and have never had a problem with them leaking or any thing. and from what i read the sun sun can has 5/8th tubing will work perfect. Pick one up and enjoy it.

if you get it, it would be a good idea to put a check valve under the heater. That way if there is a power outage, it stops the heater from drying out by preventing the water from draining below it.

Seeing as this is a canister filter, during a power outage, nothing drains... and also, what's wrong with letting the heater dry out when it's not on haha? If the heater isn't on, then it can't be too hot, and if it's not too hot, when cold tank water hits it, it won't shatter. Just sayin.
