So after having this filter on a few of my tanks ive decided that with the amount of water the Aqueon 55/75 pushes out (rated at 400 gph) combined with a very large compartment for media (enough room for at least 12 scrubbies) and the cost (28.00 on sale on kensfish.com) that this filter needs to be included in the same category as the ac110 and emporer 400.

Mine are loaded to the brim with scrubbies without any noticeable flow decrease and keeps my water crispy clear and is super super quiet with a self priming motor. also with how the downtube is positioned on the far left of the filter it takes up a very minimal amount of sapce in the tank when placed on the left hand side of the tank and the downtube being very adjustable can extend all the way to the bottom of a 75 gallon at 20" keeping the tank bottom very clean and helping drastically with gravel vacs.

So all in all its an awesome filter and i couldnt be happier with what it provides in terms of turnover rate, space for media and cost and just wanted to get it out there that this is a superb filter and will definitely be getting more for my tanks, and i HIGHLY recommend this filter for anyone looking for a comperable filter to the ac110 or amp 400 for a better cost:)

BEAST MODE!!

i didnt like how the motor was inside the tank with these filters. have also heard that some fish will develope hole-in-the-head from the electromagnetic energy emmitted by these in the surrounding water. have had both perfer the aquaclear in all aspects

I had a smaller aqueon for a while and really enjoyed it because of all of the reasons that you mentioned. The idea that energy emitted by the motor would cause HITH is silly because, well, POWERHEADS. Nuff said.

I have the aqueon 30 and like it very much,my next purchase of a new HOB could well be a 55/75. GOOD LUCK WITH YOURS ....keep us updated on how it does

Pics?

I've got the 30 gal model. And I've used AC110's as well.

I like both. I think the AC110 is a better filter as far as filtration goes. But the Aqueon filters are SUPER easy to maintain, and I really like the self priming. It makes my life SO much easier hahaha.

I do think the motor on the AC is better, though. The aqueon seems a bit flimsy and tempermental when comparing.

Would buy again. But keep the secret hush hush so they don't jump in price like the AC filters did.
