Is that all that it takes to change a persons gender?

My point is that argument that "she" shouldn't be allowed to compete on the basis of being unnatural by way of plastic surgery is a moot point thanks to the rules. For the most part, a physical gender reassignment is all plastic surgery; hormone treatments simply can't account for all of the physical changes that are required for a "successful" gender reassignment.

No as one can not truly change ones gender.

x2.

There really is no one to permanently & truly change ones gender.

I was asking because I was not sure what category the sex change operations fell into.I never thought of it as plastic surgery but then I never much about it at all.

If they allow breast implants, botox, tummy tucks, lip injections, face lifts, etc, then gender reassignment should also be allowed. They're all as fake as a barbie anyways. Besides a man competing in a beauty competition against women would be at a serious disadvantage anyways.

Ah, okay. The physical surgery is performed by plastic surgeons; that takes care of pretty much all of the physical stuff. The hormone therapy is a far more common procedure as there are those who were born with issues that lead to diminished hormone production that need the therapy, too; it's more used to properly feminize the person in question, e.g. voice pitch and so on.

I think that a Barbie may have less plastic then some women these days...
