So my question is can angelfish and severums be housed together in my 180 gallon tank I'm very big into severums and love them but I have also been seeing some angelfish variants that I'm really liking so can they go okay in my 180 ?

I've never done it myself but seen it many times.

I don't recommend it because I tried it a while back. The Angels were slowly tormented by the Severums and after about 3 months I couldn't stand it anymore and ended up putting the Angels in their own tank. My Angels aren't cheap and i just didn't see it working out well for them. I now have my severums with some of my Geos and a few other odd balls and it seems much better.

Well that was the other thing I was thinking of is a severum geo tank but I may still work on trying it I have a spare tank to put the angels in if needed but I'd like to try it because I do like angels much better then geos I may just buy like 3 angels and try it out the severums are pretty peaceful and they have some platinum angels at my lfs the same size as my severums so I think I'll try it but I understand what your saying thanks for the advice bro

You might be able to pull it off, might. I never tried it. I've kept Angels with Discus & Fesavum with no trouble. Wild fish might be able to stand up for themselves more than domestics but that's not a given. You have to hit the right mix and dynamic so each species is more interested in themselves than each other. Right now I have what is basicly an Angelfish, Geo tank with a large school of Serpae Tetras.

I kept wild Peruvian scalare with severums but they are a bit more boisterous than tank-bred varieties of angels. Start with small severums. If you keep multiple sevs they will usually be too preoccupied with conspecific aggression to pay other fish much mind.

In my experience, large Mesonauta are way more aggressive than large Heros. Others here don't share that experience but both wild groups of Mesonauta I had tormented all my fish, especially the severums.

I have kept Angelfish with Severums in the past with no problems. Give it a shot and see.

I have severums, angels and geos together but like ryansmith said, my angels are also wild scalare which does make them a little more tough. Plus, my tank is 300 gallons so there's plenty of space for all of them.

If you can make it work it's a great combination though, I would just keep it stocked minimally so they can each have their own territories.

I have a Medium Sized Red spotted Severum in my tank with a Medium sized Angel...He chases it sometimes but mostly concentrates on anything in the tank thats smaller than him like one of small blood parrots or the smaller red spotted severum. Most say Severums arent too agressive but it just depends on the fish really. I would give it a try and just make sure they are about same size when u put them in together
