Real awesome. Nothing beats monster polys!

hi guys

Well, I've been away from MFK for some time, but always try to check it out.
I've got some polypterus here, but ...
man, that senegalus is AWESOME.

I'd like to ask the permission of the picture's owner to re-post it ina brazilian forum too.
my friends there loved to see it posted here.

thanks in advance.

The head shape is one of the reasons behind the MOCA labeling this as "most likely" Merdionalis. (along with fin scrapes and other things I would imagine)
It really is gorgeous, and I really hope the Big-in guys can do it again and bring some more in!

Awesome looking! I really like to have one of those bad boys.

I think we all need to send emails to Animal Planet and have them and Jeremy Wade do an episode of Rivers Monsters on Polypterus LOL. Hunt for the giant monster polypterus :D

Never know there could be some huge elusive polys out there in the deep wild areas, they just found a record breaking Crocodile 21 feet 2,000lbs. Don't know how true it is for polys but underwater fish are almost unrestricted in size unlike land animals. Maybe theres a 5-6ft Congicus out there somewhere or maybe a 3 ft Ornate.

He belongs in his ancestral 53,785,429,900,000 gallon
(203.6 km³) home (Lake Turkana), where he lived like a king.

Or you can build a 53,000,000,000,000 gallon tank for him.
