My Oscar once had a few, I'd say around 15 white ich bumps, I treated with "super ich cure" (lol) and raised the temp to 86. And it cleared up, then a week later it returned to a lesser extent and went by itself. Now it is back and I'm more worried than ever because even though it is just a few white spots, my Oscar cut himself on the head and side of the body. What should I do?
Some pics:

*** UPDATE*** by the time I finished typing my "essay" the white spots rid them self from last night. Now the question is how to prevent this in the future.

No it's just a scrape and once the ich is fully gone quarantine all fish that get added. If the ich returns there is a sticky that shows how to treat ich with heat and salt

Of all the cichlids I've kept Oscars seem to be the quite clumsy at times compared to other fish. I try to not to put sharp rocks in the tank for that reason. Looks like it will heal up good.

Try 1tbsp of aquarium salt per every 5gal, then turn the heat up to 85. Let it run for about 3 weeks after the white spots disappear. That should kill any remaining ich in your tank. Also the salt will help with the healing process of his cuts/scrapes. Also doubleing your water change schedual would help too.

Sounds like you're not treating the disease fully enough, and so it's relapsing. Keep up the treatment for a week after you are sure the ich is gone, so that well, you're sure it's gone for certain.

1 week after the spots have disappeard isnt long enough. The ich life cycle is somewhere around 3 weeks. And they react to meds once they form into the free swimming parasite stage.
