sorry for the loss mate. Just curious are pirhannas interactive like some hybrids? or they mind their own business until they smell blood ? I heard they are usually shy in nature?

Thanks for the condolences guys , 4 1/2 year bout with cancer and now he's in a better place , again thankyou very much . I usally feed them every other day and sometimes every 3rd day depending on how quick and how much they consume the previous feeding . There staple if i had to say is fresh smelt mixed with shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, crayfish, krill, ( depending on what were having for dinner haha ! ). As far as your question Jay88 they are shy and skiddish to a degree with alot of varieables , tank size, number of fish, health and welfare, personality of fish, iv'e had them watch and follow me like a hawk not affraid at all and on the flip side iv'e had them knock themselves for a loop running into the glass freaking out. These guys need a bigger tank you just have to move slow and let them calmly adjust to your movement , they know who i am though and when there going to eat ,they dont hesitate to come to the top to get to the food first before the next one gets it . Thanks again for the condolences , God Bless:)

yea i know what u mean about knocking themselves silly. If someone carelessly jets past my tank my fish will go into death mode! luckily my gf knows this. i dont think there is a tank thats too big for these guys in existence! I love so many things about p's, their personalities are rad and their smart as well. my shoal isnt mixed, just 5 5-6" rbp in a 90, upgrading to a 6'x24" soonish and using my 90 for my serrasalmus rhom, which is currently 1 1/4" and doing great, hes on nls pellets and talapia fillets, i tried putting some tetras with him as suggested by a couple people on here and he strait ate them like he was 12" big. Glad you see the good in dark times, that is great, i admire you very much for dealing with what ur going thru like a man. again im so sorry for ur loss! cheers to you!

Right at one year give or take, bought them from a fella that neglected them in a 30 gal, the 90 is decent for them now, I feed em a rotation of fresh talapia and shrimp every 3 days and a handful of o1 pellets everyday to keep down aggression, they are very healthy. No prob, I know what its like to lose someone close!

Btw pellets are great and none messy, just dont feed for a week and throw a handful in and they will eat, nls omega 1 r good brands!
