How do you dispose of your monsterfish???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I dig a hole, put the fish in a seris of bags, put him in a Tupperware, put the Tupperware in the hole, and put a flat stone over it. That's for my favorite fish though, other fish I flush them.

If I consider the fish as a real pet (as I did my first and second Oscars), I bury them in the backyard. If I dont consider them pets, I throw them in the creek in the back.

After seeing that thing about bones you gave me an idea! I was going to get some dermastid Beatles. Which are the Beatles that eat flesh and leave bones. And I was going to get them. Any dead fish I have ill drop in the tank. Never thought about using anything other than mammals for this. I was going to get a colony of about 300 and they would be able to get rid of say an Oscar in about 3 weeks.

ive always wanted to have my deceased fish taxidermied and mounted on the wall...considering they were of worthy size and splendor.

I will soon do this. Just not taxidermied. Ill get the bone mounts and ill do the same with trophy fish I catch

I freeze them and when I get around to it use them as fertilizer in my garden.

Eww.. old post...

Feed to the piranha or the red tail cat (and no, they are not in the same tank).

Interesting topic. Would have helped when I lost my first flowerhorn 6 months back or so...my first fish also.

Normally I flush my dead fish...however, I burried him in the park. I am now thinking how it might be taking it to a taxidermist.... both of my current male flowerhorns, are probably in the top 10 in Australia... they cost me a fortune... I would not want their looks to go away...
