So, I'm pretty stunned. I was just touting the reasons I've used this product for the past five years with good results. You know: works great, same cost as Prime but treats twice as much water for the same amount of product, and doesn't do anything other than what I want (dechlorinate and break apart chloramine bond, detoxify ammonia, nitrite, and heavy metals). Then I ran across their MSDS. What the flippin' heck do they use in there??? The warnings read similar to battery acid and it even states that it's "very toxic to aquatic life" (complete with warning picture of dead fish). And I've been using this for FIVE YEARS???!!!!

Here's a link to their MSDS. Back to Prime for me.

"Administer CPR if needed"..."DO NOT enter confined spaces until atmosphere has been checked"...This stuff has been sitting under my tanks with my toddler loose around my house! I'm flippin' pissed both at myself for not checking and at API for selling this stuff!

Prime's is much better. Compare for yourself: Prime's MSDS

Its a chemical just like all the cleaning products in ur kitchen

I'm surprised anything survived in your tank. Thank god your kid didn't get into it

I get that it's toxic and it makes no sense why you would sell an aquarium product that could potentially kill the reason you treat the water in the first place (the fish), but it obviously hasn't had any adverse side effects and I haven't heard of any from other people, so why stop using it?
