Check Out My Huge New Gar!

My newest acquisition:

Okay, maybe it's not huge.

I caught this little longnose gar (Lepisosteus osseus) last night, and hopefully I'll be able to find some more in a few days as well. If I do manage to catch more, I'll be sure to avoid housing them together as they tend to eat each other at this size even with enough food to go around; I found that out the hard way last time I had ones this size! I noticed with the last ones that they have trouble with too much current at this size, so it's in a 1.5 gallon with a bubble filter until it gets used to a stronger current.

By the way, those little black things that are floating around in there are mosquito larvae; it's a bit too small for most feeder fishes at this size.

Anything beyond baby guppies will be too big; it did eat a 0.25" long goby, though, in addition to some of the mosquito larvae.

You better find more. I want!!!
