what would you say is the best wet pet. i don't care about the fishes look, i just want to know, in your your experience, what is the best wet pet (fish). mine would have to be my gar because i can hand feed him and pet him without him swimming away or sinking. second would be my lima because I've hand fed him and i hear that it's fairly uncommon for them to be so friendly. i'm trying to get my channel to hand feed but he is still skittish.

TBH, I've kept all kinds of fish, marine, fresh, brackish. eels, cichlids, puffers, oddballs. and if youre looking purely for personality you want to get a puffer of some kind.

small tank? get a GSP, figure 8 or something like that.
100g tank? go marine and get one of the dogfaced puffers or a porcupine fish, if you keep one alone then 100g should be fine.
got an even larger tank, then a fahaka or Mbu would be the ultimate wet pet. but there seems to be a lot of debate as to what size tank you need to keep one.
many members keep them in 200g tanks but some sources say 1000 gallons.

if for some reason you are a most unique individual and do not like puffers, then i would say get a big cichlid. only problem is they don't seem to bothered in interaction. they just want food, or to act aggressive to you. puffers and many other oddball species show interest in their owners without showing aggression or begging for food.

Really? I never thought puffers to be like that. What's the smallest species that's still interactive, something that stays under 6" and is full fresh?

I would say Midas, red devil, Oscar for best wet pet. Some people also say severums are good to.

It's been a few years since I have kept saltwater fish but I would have to say that for me it would have to be an octopus.Very interesting pet to observe as it goes about it's business.

I heard those are hard as hell to keep and only live like a year max?

Puffers or Catfish. Our fahaka puffer always swims up to the glass to greet us whenever we walk into the room. Same with our RTC, he even swims up for a pet while cleaning the tank and will hand feed every time.

No.If you know what you are doing as far as proper salt tank maintenance then they are not hard at all to keep.In my experience getting them the proper food is the hard part as they will eat just about any living thing but in the wild they love small crabs which are hard to come by cheaply. They are not very long lived unfortunately.

i LOVE my severum! he is pretty, social, and comes to the top of the tank begging to be fed. They take some time to get settled in though, they're really skittish at first. As they grow they'll be more bold.

Any of the cichlids, really. Smart, interactive, and plenty of personality.
