If you knew you would be stung...

Got stung just last week by a 9 inch male ray while clipping his stinger for shipping. No worse then a bad bee sting IMHO. Pain subsided in 4-6 hours. Flushed with hot water for awhile and let it bleed out...

People keep dogs and never get bit

If you are careful and respect your rays then you won't get stung

It's only when you start doing silly things like hand feeding your chances of getting stung go up

If your rays are in a tank that's to small you also have a higher chance of getting stung

I had someone get in my tanka week or so back and the rays stayed at the opposite end it used to be the same when I done water changes I cleaned at one end and the days moved to the other end

I never buy any animal thinking I will get bit or stung

If you did think you were going to get stung you would need to be a rubbish keeper if you let it happen once per week as once should be enough to make you take more care

ive kept exotics most of my life.. accidents happen.. as long as you are careful.. and like you said dont do stupid things more then likely nothing will happen, but you should always be prepared. haveing a potentially dangerous pet and not haveing a worst case scenario plan, is poor ownership. and ignorance/ stupidity on a whole other level... assuming it will never happen is worse then doing stupid things. what would happen if your rays hadnt tucked tail? and that person got stung? not having a plan at all is how people get seriousely injured or die.
 
Tank is almost up and I cant wait to get my hands on a few rays. The next adventure

In a heart beat if that guaranteed they wouldn't die. I want rays bad, but I am afraid of them dying on me. I heard way too many horror stories.
