I have been dealing with a Oscar that has Hole In The Head for the past eight plus years. I have tried pretty much everything.
It was recently suggested by a credible source to do a weekly marine dip.
I understand this will be very stressful to my fish but that is part of the point.
Does anyone know anything about this method?
What is the preferred salinity?
Do I match the temp with the tank?
Is the ph difference going to be a concern?
How long?

Any help would be great.

I will be setting up a five gallon bucket with a marine salt mix and a heater and a power head for the dip.

What are you feeding him? I had some spots on my Jack that have been there for a good while just because mostly he was picky on food he ate. I switched to nls with the therma A+ extra garlic and anti parasite stuff in it and as soon as he switches over and started eating it which didn't take much at all for a picky fish the sports went away. His spots were white indents almost like a wart but indenting in and white. Just a thought what are you feeding him??

You already try the vitamin and mineral pyramid? Seems in line with the saltwater idea of exposing the fish to essential minerals, but without the stress of a salt bath. And it cured my O's HITH. Just a quick double-whammy with hex-out (probably unnecessary) and a single addition of a vitamin and mineral pyramid - and all the holes closed in two or three days. It was not diet, electric current, charcoal or other things. It was the absence of an essential mineral - I don't know which. But it's in that pyramid!

I remember trying this pyramid for another set up I had going. I could not see any difference and I would need a case of those things for a month of dosing in a 75 gallon tank.
I prep RO water for water changes and I add Kent RO right with a little does of vitamin c. I have also tested for calcium which is not the problem.

My feeding is down to once a week some time twice with a water change within 48 hours of feeding. I have been using new spectra soaked in vitamin C(1ml), vita chem(est.2ml), mandozale(sp) and garlic guard. I was switching it up and dosing krill but I now just do a earthworm. I under dose on the vitamins in the food due to the fact I add minerals to the tank for the balancing of the RO water.

I have also tried the metro recipe for a food mix but I am not a fan and did not see any improvement after a month or so and once I discontinued the food the symptoms got worse.
I then tried treating the whole tank with metro but that got expensive really quick.

natural seawater is around 1.025. In the marine aquarium, and including the reef, salinity somewhat lower. 1.019 to 1.023
