we went out yesterday and fishd...more like the evening. There was an insane caddis hatch! I wasnt fast...or slow enought to land any on dries. 2 fish landed and 3 or so farmed. My 2 were on the indy. Other 2 buddies caught some fish as well on the dry. No pics tho. Next time.

I got out on sunday with the fly rod and we did pretty decent. I missed so many fish it was driving me nuts, but we still had a lot of fun.
We were out on a private lake. It was small, but there is no public access and all of the land around this lake is private so you need to know someone on the lake to get on it. It's also a no motors allowed lake, which is pretty cool. This lake is plump full of fish. Within 15 minutes of fishing I had a 16-18 inch bass on - but I lost it in the weeds. I knew right then it was going to be a good day. My buddy landed two 16-17 inchers and one 19 incher. I lost a 'close to' 20 incher boatside but the action was awesome. It was so fun on the fly... can't explain it, so I got it on the GoPro camera. That's right folks! Some of the footage is choppy and it was raining but it was pretty cool. Got some good hits on camera so as soon as I get it uploaded you'll be able to come fishing with me!

Nice vid! The second one wouldnt work but the first one is sweet! I love watching a bass blow up on a topwater!
Since your using topwaters, you may want to wait longer before setting the hook. Usually when I count to 1-2 my hookup rate increases quite a bit!

Also with the mouse patterns...try a smooth, steady retrieve, so it just makes a wake. Obviously your doing just fine twitching it, but sometimes the wake works well too!
Gotchya. I definitely missed a handful of strikes. It's really hard to fight that reflex though, ya know? I also missed a big guy... I think that the 6wt rod might not have enough backbone? I've also read about just stipping the line really hard to set the hook on bigger fish as well... but that will take some practice and getting used to.
I'll definitely try to get out soon again with the GoPro. The quality came out a lot better than I had expected.
