how big do they grow in captivity??
 
Not really sure just how big they get but I doubt they get far over twelve inches in length.They can be skittish mine takes off when I move close to look at him but it does not hit the glass and he calms down pretty quickly.

I have one who is about 10 inches and I feed him with pellet. I've seen a couple of 13 inch big African pikes here in Sweden (not in reality, but on pics). They can be kinda skittish sometimes, but in a big enough tank and a number of tankmater, they are pretty calm. I keep mine with frontosas.

Here they say it grows up to 28 inches. I have hard to believe that, but I think they can atleast get up to 16 in aquarium. Of course they grow bigger in nature
