Can they? I bought Vieja Gutt couple weeks ago knowing it was a male.
My male GT is around 7-8" and Vieja is 5-6". They were going at each other when I introduced vieja so I thought they were going at it for the pecking order. I looked at them closer today and they were doing mating rituals and vieja has her breeding tube out.
Has anyone had GT/vieja hybrid???? I don't know... Not a big fan of hybrid... but if offspring turns out great looking, I might keep.... Just wondering if anyone had the experinces w/ GT/vieja hybrid. Thanks guys.

I don't see why they can't breed.

No south americans (other than Festae) can crossbreed with fish outside their genus. So they may well breed but the eggs will not be viable - if they are its a first.

Thank alot! Yeah, it's their first time. So should I just remove the eggs after the spawn or just let 'em eat their eggs?

i thouyght green terrors didnt cross and if they did i thought it would be with a green acra but wow amazing dont think the eggs will be fertal though unfortunatly

There is a hybrid section for this. This section is for the pure, not hybrids or hybrid wannabees.

What a joke lol. I love when someone jumps on the screw hybrids bandwagon. You would be surprised how "pure" your local store fish are. I would take a hybrid fish over a f1000 horribly inbred fish from a local store any day.

To the OP, its not a possible combination for viable fry. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...1-Rules-of-Hybridization-In-American-Cichlids
