I'm not too sure if I'd be feeding it vertebrate prey, though, as some keepers say to avoid it for health reasons (other than the rodent attacking) while others say it's fine. What's your take on the matter?

The reason that vertebrates are bad is because the calcium in the bones can build up and harden the exoskeleton to a point that the Tarantula is unable to lose it during a molt and dies. I figure that once every six months or so it is okay- keep in mind that these guys are designed to take down much larger prey items than crickets.
The the blondi kill the mouse faster than the eyelash? Both are very nice. The webbing part was too cool!
