If fish are old friends, I find them good home and ask can I visit please? Can help if include equipment and supplies, eg, filters, heaters, air pumps, nets, thermometer strips, Prime, fish food, water parameter test kits, etc, each time when visit.

sounds like alot of people shouldnt be carring for fish if there just for entertainment and to dump them on to somebody else when there bored of them.....
If person bored with fish that is old friend, better to find good home for old friend with someone new and enthusiastic, rather than tell bored person, "You wrong to feel bored. You look after fish! This fish not boring! Come on, do water change now! Now, before go out to party, do water change first!" Not think will happen, more likely fish get fin rot 1st.
If use this method, suggest read recent thread on feeding fish minced garlic. Maybe fish taste good if fed minced garlic.
because animal abuse is so funny...
I've only gotten rid of two fish one for being to big and the other for being too violent. they both went back to pet stores.
Eat em....... Kidding I just sell em for something that I'm not bored with.
