Only keeping six now, have moved the rest on. Here's a couple of my dominant male as a quick update after not posting here (or anywhere really) for 6 months. He's roughly 20cm (7 1/2").
Definitely, but it's not relentless like some species can be (A. heckelii comes to mind). Caudal fins take a beating but generally heal. There's a lot less aggression now that I'm down to six in a 6x2x2 compared to the original 14/15 (Had a disappearance, unsure when :|)
They have spawned but not for quite a while. I split the colony yesterday and the dominant male has already started digging a pit in the front right corner of the tank with two females watching him.
For those interested in picking them up, understand these guys are slow growers. Purchased at 4cm two years ago and the dominant male is noticeably larger than the rest at about 20cm. So about 1/4" a month, and that's in a large setup on a quality diet. They can also be quite 'flighty' in large groups.
