Geo group in a standard 75?

Some smaller ones like Geophagus parnaibae should work. Described SL is about 76mm and they are probably not going to be much bigger than that in captivity. Ryan used to breed them.
Some mid sized species like orange heads might be ok too but a 48x18 footprint is pushing it.

Only one I'd try of the true Geophagus would be G. panaibae, but I believe Ryan said they got much bigger in his tanks than the max listed wild size so I'm not sure if I would try to shoehorn them into a 75 gal or not.

Those are gymnogeophagus and they require a time period of colder temperature

True they are gymnogeophagus, but you'll see that most people on here don't usually do the cooler temperature period. That usually requires either taking the heater off or using a chiller.
It's said that not doing the cooling period can subtract 2-3 years from their lifespan, but many people on here haven't seen any side effects of not cooling their tanks.
I have balzanii and I do the cooling period. Why would you want to risk shortening their life? You say no side effects but how long did they keep the fish to see if any showed up?
What about Geophagus sp. Nieva? Are they a species on their own or just a collection point of steineys?
Any of the Gymnos would work, and the cooling period is no big deal, I just don't use a heater.
I keep mine with ancistrus and Xenotoca eiseni.
