FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Went out this AM in search of more snapper before the season closes. Snapper bite was slow. Did manage a decent one and lost a good one yak side. Had several mystery hits that I couldnt slow down for anything.

On the troll in I ran through a school of ballyhoo and had a double on mahi. Lost one and landed one. The one I landed I got in the boat but he jumped out and made a blistering run needing me to fight him another couple of minutes. This time after I stuck him he went straight into the cooler, bungeed the lid down and cut the line. I also caught two kings.

That didn't seem like a 20 pound fish. Especially given your hand size to his mouth size. Nice fish and video.

With no wind and calm seas I had to get back out there.

The conditions were perfect for chumming. I arrive at my spot only to look down and see the snapper already just a few feet below the surface.

I put a personal 24" min on ARS for myself at the beginning of my trips. I quickly landed several in the 22" range but let them go to get bigger.

I finally got this nice fish at 27" but the bite seemed to slow and time was running out on my short trip so for the last twenty minutes or so I decided to go ahead and and keep a smaller fish but alas I was too greedy and didnt land another snapper. Funny how that works.

The bonita were every where. On the troll back in I got a hit as I was marking schools of something BIG. I had been marking bonita all day but these returns showed much bigger fish then all of the bonita I had busting around me while I was snapper fishing.

What ever this fish was, he was heavy. I dont think he ever knew he was hooked. I got him close to the boat, didnt see him but he finally realized he was hooked and he shot off like a rocket. I could feel some head shake so maybe it was a big bonito or maybe a black fin tuna. Who knows because my twelve pound test didnt last long after he took his first blistering run.

just another day in paradise JD.. will be taking a headboat out at some point this month in search of some grouper.. only difference is i gotta go 30-50miles offshore to get em!! ;(

Have just got home after 3 days of fishing along the West Coast, since it has been quite cold , the mackerel has not quite arrived. We tried to fish for mackerel on the first day, but we got nothing. I hooked a little pollock on fly. Not big, but still funny as it is my first pollock.

Yesterday we fished after cod instead of mackerel and I got a pretty nice one on 18” and a smaller one between 13” and 14”. At midnight, the sea trout came in and we fished until 1 am. We had some bites and I managed to land a small 8” covered with salmon lice.

Today I started with some troutfishing and dad fished for mackerel. He catched a god one on 16” and strong as hell! Even though it didn't weight so much, it felt like a 10 lbs pike. After that fish they stopped biting, so we changed location and started fishing cod again. Dad took a cod on 12-13” and I catched a Cuckoo Wrasse. Even though I had some bites, I couldn't hook one. At 11 am we packed our stuff and went back home
