@dreams: 50incher would be awesome and are definetely in that area,we even heard multiple stories about 5ft pikes.

@aurutus : Nice zander, you must be living in south Sweden right?
Your freshwater fishing is famous in the Netherlands, many describe Sweden as the monsterpike-paradise.
Been a couple times to Sweden myself and your lakes and wildlife combined with fishing is just a mindblowing experience.

Well yesterday turned out to be a quite succesfull fishing day for as long as it lasted.
We started fishing at 4.30 by taking the boat to a part of a canal that we wanted to fish.
After trying some large lures for awhile with no succes we decided to follow the tips from fishing magazines and start fishing with small lures.
This change led to 3pikes of 21,28 and 37inch in the first hour of fishing.
There was a strong wind yesterday coming from ahead during fishing.
This resulted in using more power to keep trolling and we were out of batteries sooner then we had expected.
When we wanted to head back to my friends house to pick up three more batteries the outboard motor refused to start.
We tried everything but the outboard remained dead or the rest of the day,so we had to paddle back home, which took us the rest of the day.
We did catches 3pikes in about 2hours of fishing,so im guessing fishing for the entire day would have give us a shot at 10-15pikes.
Especially since we haven't fished on the best fishingspots in the area.

Nice looking pike. It's always frustrating when the equipment won't cooperate, especially when you know the bite is on.

Saturday we went out on a buddies very nice twenty six ft Sailfish in search of some more snapper and grouper.

We hit some close in public spots but the fishing there was slow. Picked up a few small mingo but that was about it. We decided to make a run thirty two miles from the pass to some live bottom which would get us away from the weekend warrior crowd. Turns out it was a good call. The GIANT red snapper were thick and were very very hungry. We quickly got out five person limit of fish being no smaller then eight pounds or so and approaching twenty pounds. We attempted to get a red grouper but the snapper were too thick, after about twenty bruising snapping a piece we decided to call it a day.

Good news as well. Due to the bad weather this year, they are extending our snapper season another seven days. So far this year Ive put around fifteen pounds of red snapper in my freezer. I need maybe another twenty to thirty to get me through the year and I have two weeks to do it.

Thanks. I live in the south part of Sweden, so you're absolutely right:)
Really nice pikes. Sorry to hear that the engine ruined the fishing trip.

Tomorrow me and my dad heading to the west coast for 2 nights to fish after mackerel, garfish, sea trout, cod and more.
So I better start packing :)
