Baby Black arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Feed it frozen blood worms for now. Keep the tank very clean, what temp. at 78 degrees. Don't put anything else with it.

Feed anything it will eat. Small guppys are great for it to snack on between feedings. Try to get it on Aro sticks but now is not the time to play starvation games. Get it to beef up som maybe at 6" or so you can train it on pellets and so on. Any meaty frozen food is good too. Temps 78 to 82 is good. lots of small water changes. Don't let uneaten food stay in the water very long. Thats why the feeder fish are good, they keep uneaten food undercontrol and the Aro can snack on them to keep a constand supply of food in its belly.

Best food for a baby black aro is freeze dried blood worms, they float unlike the frozen bloodworms and uneaten can easily be removed. Found it best to feed babies 4-5 times daily. Once it is eargerly eating the blood worms, you can start breaking up pellets into very small crumbles, this will get the aro used to the taste of the pellets and will take to them without much fuss. Once it is about 4" you can shift the staple of it's diet to more pellets the FDBS. You may also be able to get it to eat flake foods while it is still small, my goofy black will still eat flakes at 27-28". I would recomend staying away from live feeder fish or crickets until the aro is eating the FDBWs regularly. Introduce the feeder fish or crickets sparingly and if the aro starts to ingore the FDBWs or pellets stop feeding the live.

My baby black grew over an inch per month and was 16" within the first year. Had another baby black that I lost to a jump that hit 9" in 3-4 months. Would keep your nitrates under 10ppm and the ideal pH would be slightly acidic, but stable is best and the aro will adapt to most pH levels that aren't extreme.

Just like silver aros, they jump. Take every precaution to seal and weight the top of your tank, sucks to find your aro dried up on the floor.

Thank u to all of u guys what size of tank i can keep he/her now

The bigger the better, but for now, a 55 gallon is fine. Like Bderick67 said they grow fast!

Can i put some baby clow loach for tank mate so they can eat the unwanted frozen blodworms sorry for my ingles

Yes, a clown loach or two will be fine. The Aro will eventually get large enough to eat the clown loach. To prevent this keep the Aro full/well fed and get it use to eating pellets or shrimp or fish fillet. Mine eats from my hand and never looks to the other fish as "food".

I've had my Black Aro for 5 years now. It knows where the food comes from and always comes over and begs for food :) I cut long strips of Tialipa Fillet and hold it in the water, keeping fingers clear.
