Starting an African Cichlid tank

Not a bad start, when you change out the rocks remember to stack them in a way to create lots of caves for them to hide in to help with the aggression otherwise the weakest will be harassed constantly. What substrate are you looking into? I've found that mine love PFS because it's easy for them to pick up and spit out so they can redecorate as they see fit.
Pool filter sand is heavier than typical play sand and doesn't get stirred up as easily which can be important when dealing with fish who like to dig in it.
