How many here have eaten their red tailcat or another fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive eaten my pet bullhead catfish. It got too big and nobody wants a bullhead. It was amazing in a lemon, butter and garlic sauce.

When I went to the philippines I had a goat, I raised it myself. Eventually we had it slaughtered and it fed a lot of people :)

Cool. I was just bow fishing with my broinlaw here in Michigan and we were shooting some Bullhead. I didn't think they would taste great but I guess ill try them

 To each his own. ID Shark is great. Pacu, great. Oscar, great. If YOU don't want to eat your fish..fine. Turn the page. Google how fishkeeping got started in the first place. Jeez, Do you people realize the different cultures in this world. Go get an education. My $.02.

Haha that's is probably one of the dumbest statements I have ever heard. I guess NO one EVER buys fish just to eat and it should be a crime. I really hope your vegan other wise what goes in your mouth and what's coming out are very contradicting .

Also as stated I don't Just eat them. I buy them to enjoy as a pet. Then eat them.

Those little lap dogs would be like eating a rat once the fur is burned off. You would have to cook on a skewer. Even then I bet it would be all bone. Although I would still try it.

I am not a vegan. I just dont think that it is nice to buy live fish to eat them that was meant as a pet. buy already dead meat that comes from something that Is raised to be eaten, not to be a pet.
The morale of the story: if you can't house a rtc for life don't get him and than eat him when he gets to big! Let someone with a bigger tank buy him instead of you. Buying a fish you cannot keep for life is irresponsible in my book.

I can kinda understand why you feel this way. But it comes from a HUGE lack of underatand about many things such as, how farm fish are raised, how the fish breeding/import business works, what the requirements of a rtc are compaired to how they are commonly housed. What fish keeping is about and how it was started. Let alone the well being of animals and what is best for them rather then what makes you happy.

Also if you really feel this way and are wanting to breed fish as your signature says you need to

1. Make sure you have enough tank room to house ALL the fry responsible accronding to the same standard.

2. Only sell/give the fry or any other fish you have to people with setups that you absolutely know have enough room to house for life.

My point is very few people keep fish in conditions that are up to the standards that they so freely let speew from their mouths and condemn me for.

I keep the catfish I have in WAY better conditions then probably 98% of people who buy a rtc do.

And self raised/fed catfish taste so good

Am wanting to try eating RTC in future! Any advice on catfish diet or fishkeeping method for improving catfish taste? What is best RTC size for eating to achieve firm flakes but not too coarse and not too fatty? Please share experience and knowledge...

Man, did the zombie apocalypse happen and I wasn't aware of it? Ongoing joke with my mom is when the zombies take over, we go to the local zoo and release the animals, go to the shelters and release the animals, and provided we survive that far, barricade us in a grocery store, and once we run out of food, THEN we eat any pets we have left.

To each their own, man, but you gotta see how you would get mixed reactions on a site where monster fish are appreciated.

So morbid curiosity prods me: do you pith the fish or just throw it on an open grill to kill it?
