I have a 65 Gallon glass tank that has a small leak at the very top along the fron right edge starting above the level where the rim begins. I normally don't fill the tank that far, so I only get extremely occarional drops of water that run down the face of the tank. The challenge is getting far worse, and the "salty" looking sediment is now definatly generated from 100% freshwater runoff.

I am uncertain as to whether the tank was saltwater or freshwater before I bought it last summer. I have yet to be able to get the stain marks from the glass. What is the sediment that is forming on the external face of my Aquarium? How do I remove the horrible compound and afterward regularly keep the glass pane clean?

I read about trying lemmon juice, which I have to no avail. Windex and scrubbers have made no progress either.

Be careful with ammonia based cleaners like windex but I'd try white vinegar or muriatic acid.

I have muriatic acid that I clean my white tile work and concrete around my inground swimming pool. I will try that, Thanks!

As with the Windex I will leave a 1" from the rim and side joint buffer zone as to as to avoid any contamination from the cleaner.

I know this is an old post but if anyone else is suffering from this issue i would recommend using newspaper and R/O water. Do not soak the newspaper just get it a little damp.

Maby get a new tank??

White vineger or just plain elbow grease usually works for me :)
