FX5 motor has died

2-1/2 hours later, plugged it in and now it's working. Very strange. My daughters Kindle Fire kinda behaved similarly, would not charge at all and did the reset with the tech at Amazon to no avail and he sent out a new one. A day later and now its working and charging.

Thats strange I would still get another call and have them send you another motor under warranty.
 
I have had very similar experience. I have "two" pumps for my FX-5. The first one went out and I ordered another. Got the second one and installed it. Good to go. For the heck of it, I plugged in the pump I had just taken off and vroom!!! It worked just fine. Second one stopped about one month ago. Same scenario. I replaced it with the working original. Plugged the newly-removed pump in and vroom!!! Working with no problem. I don't know why this happens, but, I at least know now to remove the pump and check if it still works before considering ordering a second one.
 
Ive been running two of them for 3 yrs now with no issues at all... my all time favorite canister filter. Sorry to hear about all the problems.
 
Had my 2 fx5s 5 years now no problems at all only ever replaced the foam inserts on 1.
 
I have four FX5s that have been trouble free, however I do have a spare motor, just in case.

Sorry to hear you've had issues.
 
It's still working like a champ. I ended up cancelling the order for a replacement, lol........ I should keep one for backup but I figure I can just easily order it and have it within a week (mainland to Hawaii):)
