My 125 "everything but the kitchen sink" ...set up.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am surprised no one has hammered you for having a 125 gallon LOL! If a new ray keeper asks if a 180 is a good starter ray tank they get ran off.

they did at first but instead of running me off i ran them off... :D
its great...i dont have to deal with idiots that have no idea what they are talking about..and i get to talk with guys like you, STINGRAYED, DB..ect. that know the hobby. It actually makes it more enjoyable to be here..
i have heard a lot of good things about the K1...i need to look into it more..

let me just say one more thing..
Yes...its total overkill in some ways..in others its not....
and no..i dont need all of it on my tank. i dont need the hob's..i dont need the sump or 2 air pumps or 5 heaters.and yes..upkeep is a true *****..
But i have them on there because i like messing around with my tank and rays...
yeah, its a lot of work....but sometimes i honestly have to take a step back and say, damn...i have stingrays in my living room...how cool is that..and it makes it all worth it..

I hear you, I over killed my system at first, it took about 2-3 years before I got tired of tank maintenance. Then I started spending time figuring a simple yet effective system. That is the fun of the hobby for me is the designing of homemade system.

i hear you too..believe me...
i am in the honeymoon phase where everything is peaches & cream...
when i build my main tank it will be very low maintenance ...because i am getting to old for this ****...

My roommate brought his daughter over for the first time yesterday with her boyfriend..
the look on her boyfriends face was priceless..
The combination of shock, excitement, wonder and amazement in people face when they first see them is one of the things i most like about keeping rays..
then the bombardment of questions...99.9% of the time i always hear "i never knew there was freshwater stingrays.."

I will be cleaning my wet/dry out every 3 months. i have done it once already..i simply take the scrubbies out and run them under lukewarm water to get the waste out.

You should always clean biomedia in water from the tank.

Dident you buy a captive bred marble motoro pup? I dont see it in any of the pictures. Is it kept in a separate tank?

I did but I lost power to do a storm.. I was out of power for about 4 days... I had to keep her in a bucket... she passed a couple days ago...

Agreed 100%!!! Only thing that ranks up there with having rays in your house is handcrafting thier life support system yourself.

My goal is to be able to clean my reactors, swap out socks, and a 250-300 gallon water change in less time then it takes the average fishkeeper to clean and prime thier almighty FX5.

DIY FTMFW. :)
