Might want to get it at a reptile show in order to pay less & get a better baby/juvenile/adult directly from the breeder. The Lone Star Reptile Expo is two weekends away, so it might be worth checking out.

you can usually talk alot of the breeders down on the second day, but they dont have as much
Hey, I'd definitely go with a boa. They grow at a reasonable rate and u can learn as u go. I've got both boas and burms and both are fantastic snakes, temperaments, feeding, husbandry etc. I got a male burm thinking as they weren't as big as females and mostly top off give or take 12ft the perfect bigger snake to move up from boas. And he is, I couldn't ask for a better snake.
I built him an 8x3x3ft via last year and I'm not sure if next year he's going to need to go up a size. He STILL grows like a weed! He still sheds once a month after every feed, which is a rabbit every 4-6weeks.
If u could guarantee it wouldn't grow that large I'd say burm every time, but I personally think at some point u would have to go bigger.
You could go down the dwarf burm route? A lot more money but potential to still get 6-10ft...dependant of breeder lol

For this size of a tank, I personally would go the terrarium route. Cover the crack, build it up, add a water feature and enjoy something that IMO is far more enjoyable than a simple cage with a solitary large snake. Now, there are some very interesting snakes, (Im hoping to add a pair of a very interesting sp soon) but that large of an enclosure, id have to go terrarium. In my collection it would likly go twords vine snake, green snake, ring neck or some other similar small sp snake. But then again, I like snakes that stay smaller and would truly be able to enjoy an elegant terrarium. For lizards, id go maybe a bunch of salamanders, geckos, anoles etc. again small but can enjoy elegant enclosures. Remember, unless you truly keep your cage bare, you will not always be seeing your animal which is why I am so decoration heavy. Heck look at my caiman den. As she grows, she will destroy many of the plants, but for now its beautiful. You also lessen the risk/impact of empty cage syndrom with more animaks per cage and better decorated.
All this goes out the window if you want something to hold.
