Vacuum to collect wild worms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
during my short, smelly blackworm phase, I had dificulties harvesting unti I read someone's post here about NEVER putting a sponge filter in with them because they got into the filter and you couldn't get them out.
 here's to that guy (or gal) that made harvesting those worms so simple.
get a section of foam- you'll want to use new for the same reason we don't release fish into the wild- I used a marineland filter foam for one of their C-series filters. it's an open celled coarse foam that's about 10" square.
fill the foam with a food- I used brine shrimp pellets- and fold it in half and rubber band closed.
and leave it for a few hours, or if you have enough food, overnight.
the worms crawl in and as long as there's food left, they don't crawl out.
open the sponge into the tank and shake, it's like a salt shaker for worms.
or into a bucket to see if you can raise them.

Actually, being a coward about collecting live food has set me back hundreds of dollars. I quit being a pansy last year and have had 0 problems. Live tadpoles, worms, woodlice, you name it. All went over well and no issues.

you know, you say it-but are you really walking the walk? until I see you drinking out of storm drains and street puddles, I'm thinking you're just as much of a pansy as the rest of us. being willing to risk someone else's life but not your own simply makes you a hypocritical pansy.

would this work for the little red worms? I have no idea what they eat. They're the exact color of bloodworms, but thinner. I think they're newer hatched BWs than marketed ones, but could be a different type.
BTW, they are only in the warm spring waters, which constantly flow- no stagnation.
