hey when you guys redo the silicone in your tanks with braces do you remove the silicone around that too or do you just leave it alone? my 135 has a single brace and i would like to know if i have to remove the silcone around that as well.

Assuming plastic rim yes, how else would you seperate the glass panels?

if you are completely taking it apart, you're goingto have to remove it like f1 said, otherwise if you're just renewing the silicone on the inner portion of the tank, and not taking the glass pieces apart, no you will not have to remove it. You can use it as a guide and level out the silicone to the thickness of the brace

I agree with Jrob.

im not taking the tank completely apart im just renewing the inner silicone lining cause its been eaten away overtime

That's better, taking the whole thing apart can be a job. I know a guy who took the whole 125 gal. apart. I mean, he had sheets of glass and the frame. Ended up trying to sell it just like that. I think he still has it.

Go to The Home Depot or Wal-Mart, get 100% silicon Type 1.
