Very exciting day for me as I went and purchased half the stock for my 75 gallon tank after I completed my fishless cycle.

Here is what I currently have:
4 Electric Yellow Lab
2 Ruby Red Peacocks (Male/Female)
1 German Red
1 Electric Blue
1 red tail shark
1 Bristle Nose pleco
2 demasoni

The LFS owner told me this would be an "OK" community but after I got home I did some homework, it appears I may have a problem with the Demasoni...

I only have 2, and most say I need no less than 12. I also saw where Demasoni are very aggressive and don't get along well with peacocks. My main fish is our large German Red Peacock $25 and the 2 Demasoni cost me $30.

Here is my question: Should I return the Demasoni and get some other peacocks or other kind of cichlids that would be better for this community? My only problem is the drive back to the LFS is over 100 miles and a hour/ forty-five minute drive. I just don't want any of my fish hurt or killed because of this mistake... Thank you

I would keep your demasoni's until they start getting aggressive, you could always trade them for other cichlids if they do...

You meant they arent aggressive yet but you heard online that you may have a problem with them right? or did I just misunderstand what you were saying?

Demasoni's are pretty aggressive

I'd just watch them for a while and make sure there aren't any problems. I've heard the same nonsense about the aggressiveness of P. demasoni, but I've seen plenty of setups where the owners only had a few and they had no problems whatsoever with them. It all comes down to the individual personalities of the fish themselves.

The LFS said that all the fish I got would work well together. I came home and read that it was "recommended" that P. demasoni should be in groups of 12+ and can be aggressive towards peacocks. "You meant they arent aggressive yet but you heard online that you may have a problem with them right?" yes that is what I heard

LFS's cant really tell you what will work with each other and what will not. Like COG Commando said, it all comes down to the individual personalities of the fish themselves. Also, most LFS's will also tell you anything to make a quick sale

FYI they are very young... the 2 demasoni are around 1.5 inches. There is one that is obviously more aggressive than the other. They seem to show that towards the red tail shark and each other. Some nipping...

Oh, well the bigger they get, the worse they'll get probably...don't take my word for it though, I could be wrong but thats usually how it works

That's what I have heard C L O W N K N I F E Here are my scientific names:
4 Electric Yellow Lab (Labidochromis caeruleu)
2 Ruby Red Peacocks (Aulonocara) (Male/Female)
1 German Red (Aulonocara)
1 Electric Blue (Sciaenochromis ahli)
1 red tail shark
1 Bristle Nose pleco
2 (Pseudotropheus) demasoni

I am thinking to go back and exchanging those Demasoni... What if I only kept 1? Just curious

I would get rods of both demasoni
And get more female peacocks if I were you
