What would be the best "all around" beginner poly? I want to get in on this crave!
For a 90g or possibly my 220.

Perhaps some what active and just cool?

And me too Nikon I don't like snakes much lol! But I think I can get over the long thing because I know better that its a fish

i dont know much about polys. but if it was me i would def get one that can get HUGE. cuz they do look badass when they are big. polys are the type of fish that looks better the bigger they get. imaging how nice a giant fat poly like this in your tank

not my pic.

So I dont derail this thread, get a sen or a endli or any poly, stick it in your tank and just observe. That's the best way to truly find the reason behind why people appreciate polys so much

they are super hardy, i love that as a species they've been around forever and they breath air and they just look plain cool.

They are hardy fish and easy to ship. Bichirs are great tank mates to a lot of community fish of the same size. Most upper jaw looked snake like but lower jaw resemble a dragon and lizard when it's over 16" long. Get a delhezi or endli. If you get bored you can always sell it.

I bought one this weekend. Now I wish I had bought two. Yes you do need to get one, you will not regret it. I use to think they were boring ,until I took a closer look at them. Now I'am hooked on them.

A Senegal, would be a good place to start. If you like that fish, you will probably end up wanting a few more after a week or two lol
I was once into Polys. When I use to keep african cichlids, and I can say they are easily one of the best fish you can own.

great personality. once you have had one for awhile you will see.

My favorite quality is even though they have horrible eye sight, once you drop a pellet in the tank they can smell it and just kind of waddle their way over and find it.
