If you have a warranty just take off the hard drive (if you have one) and send it in. That way you'll be able to keep your cod file, because it's stored on the hard drive. If it doesn't have a hard drive just send it in and see if you can recover your gamer tag (to do this you need to know the email it's on) and I think you'll still be able to keep your cod stats

#1 if you don't know what a surge protector is then you will not be able to fix your xbox if it involves anything more than replacing the power cord
#2 even if you could fix it yourself the parts would cost what a new console would
#3 your CoD stats should be saved on the xbox live server not your actual console, only the single player data would be lost
#4 PS3 is a better way to go anyways
 
how do i recover the xbox live stats? Do I need to inform microsoft?

Really? Just log in On any Xbox and bam, you're good to go.. Only way you'd be screwed is forgetting your login.

Also I'm almost 19 and look forward to the holidays, at 14 I loved Christmas even more, different times I guess

just do what others have told you silly..

IF your a geek and dont play with others take it to a game stop and see if they can find one to test for you they are neerds.

Best way to see if the brick is toast look for a vent hole and smell it. If it smells like burnt plastic its toast and you have a good chance your xbox is also toast.
 
Are u sure the wires on the power brick are completly plugged in? to recover xbox acct go on any xbox, when u sign in go to recover gamertag and enter the email and email password that's registered on ur live and it will download it and save it to the new xbox easy.


I have rebuilt many xbox and the older gens have a heat failure related to rrod. Your power supply should of took the grunt of the surge, get a power brick from a friend or bring ur xbox over to his house and try it, if it works order another power supply online.


Xbox 360 is a great system, I've had ps3 and xbox I like em both but I will agree ps3 was engineered better to begin with, new gen xbox is improved. I just like the games on microsofts platform better, l4dead fm4 etc. It's all preference, Atleast live is finally getting a browser!
