  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looking good and I know the feeling of trying to keep it the Natural look to a tank and Always a family member wants to add plants and driftwood in to change the concept lol

Just depends on what you're going for. Obviously it looks nothing like a rift lake biotope now with the plants. But the important thing is that it's your tank and you and your family/friends will be looking at it every day, so choose something you like.

Well if it helps this is how I scaped my 55 to look like the rubble zone in malawi.

Thanks, lots of work and $ went into this tank. All fish seem to be doing ok. I still have some more to buy in a few weeks. I have lost two fish because they got stuck in the holes in the background. I had to put filter material in the holes to keep them out. I have to keep the filter material clean because it gets dirty. Looking for something else to keep water flowing to the back of tank, but not let fish in.

I use this plastic grate stuff they use for ponds. Rule number one of 3D backgrounds, if fish can get behind them, they will!

+1

I use plastic screen and it's black, must be the same stuff.
My last couple BG installs I keep everything (heaters, filters) in the sump and the BG is glued to the glass/acrylic so nothing can get behind it.
