"Pink slime" is ammonia-treated beef slurrry added to ground beef. It is found in about 70% of ground beef sold in supermarkets. The best part is that it is not listed in the ingredients. The meat industry claims it is just beef (they call the ammonia a "treatment"), but there is still ammonia left in the product.
We have been getting our pork, beef, and lamb from local farmers for years, but it still makes me wonder about restaurant burgers...
