Question about my erwini cat and niger cat..

My peramiters of the tank are fine I just checked. And I did a 10% water change earlyer. Both my cats seam to be shedding there slime coat. I only notice it when I do a water change. Its not a thick coat almost like a realy thin shed. There both fat and are heavy eaters on carnivore pellets. Any thoughts?
I use prime if that helps.. should I up my wc? I also use api salt.

Can you post the actual numbers for your water parameters? Any reason for using the salt?

Last time I saw something similar was due to a ph crash. Make sure you check ph, kh and ammonia as these often result in dropping of slime coats when not in safe ranges.

good, the tests results should shed some light on the problem.

Personally I only use salt when treating fish for something.

Ok just finneshed up.. I went and got a new kit to make shure I get a very good reading.

Ph 7.4
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate between 40ppm and 80ppm

My tank is a grow out.. I plan on moving every one this week end as fallows

2 2" data
1 4" ompak cat
1 4-5" irwin cat
1 5" niger cat
1 5" bck
These guys will be in a 90gal this week end. And in a few weeks ill be moving the bck and niger to my 250gal
Right now there in a 55gal grow out till the week end

I keep both those species in a 240. I recommend you do Bigger water changes than 10%. I do 50% weekly and every other month I add Neutral Regulator to set my ph at 7 and prevent fallout.
