That might be a Delaware special from down near boathouse row. I know that walleye are native to the Delly but I haven't heard much about sauger but I'm sure sauger are all over in there. It really almost looks like a smallmouth walleye or sauger hybrid. With all of that pollution from Philly back in the 80s and 90s who knows what's floating around in the river. I know I'd rather find that thing washed up instead of a dead body

It's a smallmouth bass with swollen up lips....someone isn't being careful with unhooking the bass.

A smallie with those sized teeth and that large of an eye? I also agree that coloration wise it looks like a smallie but the large eye and teeth are screaming something in the perch family either walleye or sauger in this case. Like I said the Delaware at one time was highly polluted near Philadelphia but has since been cleaned up. I'd be curious if the high pollution had something to do with this.

Sometimes unhealthy fish can be mistaken for another species. This is just a bass with inflammatory lips from poor handling and unhooking by a fisherman and it is common. Which that is reason why this fish died. That teeth size looks right size for smallmouth bass as they do have some teeth but not so toothy like walleye. BTW this is young bass about 8-12" and not a mature bass so the eye size is normal for a young bass.

Personally I've never caught smallmouth with teeth like that in it. The mouth kind of gets me it looks like one from the perch family but also fits with smallmouth criteria of ended mid eye. The thickness makes me lean towards smallie and how the dorsal fin connects to the soft dorsal like a smallie. Honestly IMO I'm confused on this one. The fish was defiantly in horrible shape before dying but the mouth and teeth get me. Oh well

My guess is that a fisherman just ripped a big hook out of the fish's mouth, leave this bass looks like that. We often get few unhealthy bass all times at my job and they were funky-looking and toothy. Same with sunfish as they are usually mistaken for hybrid green sunfish because of swollen up lips can makes the mouth appeared bigger.

Yeah I've seen some beat up fish electro shocking up at school in toga county PA but nothing to this point. The Deleware gets some cough cough all star fishermen so it doesn't suprise me that you'd see a few more fish like this. I mean I've caught musky up at school that have been caught by just about everyone on my bass team and it was in great shape besides a few holes in its lips but nothing like that. I think the coloration of that fish gives the smallie away there's nothing else that looks like fw wise. It blows my mind people can treat fish like this but they manage to
