I just wanted to share some pix of my juvie dovii. Eating health and growing fast! Hopefully its a male and will turn into a beast one day :devil:. Picture #6 was on the 1st day when I got it in 6.29.12

The six pics are a male. The other a female. Keep us posted. Look at the unpaired fins for the spotting. It's the best way to tell. They can fool ya from time to time with spotting on the body.

Just read that there all the same fish. I would have bet the one pic was a female, I don't see any spotting in the unpaired fins. I am sure it's a male though.....been wrong before.
 
Who knows Nick, I don't see any spotting on the unpaired fins on any of the pics really. The first few kinda look like a male but that last one screams female for me for sure. This one looks to be lil tricky... My gut is saying female, but hopefully I'm wrong and your right for the OP's sake:)

I hear ya, I think I can see some spotting on the unpaired fins. I think you might be right on the last pic screaming female though. I would say in another month there would be no doubt. I can usually see spotting on the males fins at a very small size. It would be hard to see in pics. OP just keep an eye on it for a little while longer. Hope I didn't tell you wrong. How big is it?

Hey NWatson, thx for responding back to me inquiry! Yeah, this dovii is toying with my emotions :irked:... some days it displays a lot of male's characteristics and other days looks like female. Thx again.

Its about 3.5 - 4"... No worries about being wrong! I just wanted to get ppl's input based on their fish keeping experience.
