How many Brokopondo cichlas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that one is very nice, but subadult pattern though. Would love to see what it looks like as an adult!

Thanks!! That photo is about 5 months old now and he was 11" in that photo he's since been in a 2500 gallon pool growing out for the summer and has gotten huge. He'll be back in a tank within the next two months, comes summer end. Because of the crazy growth I have seen in all the fish that were moved into the pool in May, I'll have some serious updating to do as soon as their returned to their tanks. I actually can't wait to be able to watch my fish through the glass again. The pool is defiantly cool and certainly has quite an impact on growth and IMO a definite benefit to the fish overall....BUT watching them isn't the same from a top view. I think when I finally get them all out, the before and after photo's of these fish will be like night and day. I know my Kels have exploded with speckles and bling and look completely different, the Tem has gotta be close to 20" and was only about 13" when he went in and like I said the Broko is amazing and has completely grown up in comparison to when he went in.

You guys have such short memory...
It hasn't been that long since ArttyFish posted my Adult Brokopondo thick bodied beast. He is about 21 inches now and is from Jeff Rapps very first import of this species to USA.

Didn't forget....just want to see more.

Picture please. They're not shown enough on this forum.

This is the last photo I have of him before I tossed em into the pool for the summer. He's since lost his black vertical lines and developed three outlined spots on his upper back where the three vertical lines use to be. As soon as summers up, I plan on breaking down the pool and getting all my cichla back into the tanks. Once the fish are back into tanks I'll do update pics.
