Well despite me saying my pleco is harmless i just witnessed him attack my polys 3 times and try to suck on them. I am going to get rid of him sooner or later. I need suggestions on south american algae eaters that are going into a tank with small to medium size SA cichlids (and of course my lovely polys) Anything helps i need the info ASAP because i need to have my tank all settled in before i get my apistos. Thanks in advance Dr.B :D

What do you mean you will get rid of the pleco sooner or later? More experienced bichir keepers warned you about this & now that you yourself have confirmed, you say sooner or later? Bro, take that pleco out now. Put it in another tank, sale it, cook it, put a divider in your current tank, whatever you need to do....if you have observed it chances are it's a lot worse at night. Set priorities, then think about stocking your tank.

I totally agree with you fram but my dad likes the pleco and he's the one convincing my mom to let me keep the tank so he goes on a trip to china this week i'm going to get rid of it then so when he gets back he be too overwhelmed with exhaustion that he won't care. So i have to be careful lol So what about bristlnoses like james said? and second opinions?

Corys are a nice addition, it's fun watching them school, they have interesting personalities, and will clean up well after the polys.

I'm thinking of getting 6-8 corys and 3 bristlenose plecos. Anything else?

My polys aren't near big enough. or they are big enough and they have small mouths either way nothing as big as an apisto is going in any time soon (soon means different things to all of us)
