Hey guys! Glad to be a new member of this forum. Can you all tell me, i have a new VATF i got from sharkaquarium.com today. I have been browsing videos for a long time on these and I'm so excited to join the owners club of them. I have a question on their general habits though. He is in a new 225 gallon tank with just a pleco for company. water temp is 80-82 and ph is 7.0. everything else is 0. Very healthy water for him. i have a fluval fx5 and a powerhead to generate some current for him. He has been swimming against the glass and opening/closing his mouth constantly since i got him. I didn't think they were this active. Is this right?

My gatf took a long time to settle down. Sins like your fish is doing the infamous tiger fish spaz. Try turning the lights off and leaving him alone. Good others will help him settle in too. When i introduced mine i had six silver dollars two tinfoil barbs and two bala sharks. Their being comfortable really seemed to help. The gatf also killed and ate the two bala sharks, his first meals with me.

Thanks, i actually left the lights off for 2 days and when i went back down, the feeders that were in there were gone and he is completely calm now. He doesnt go near the glass and is perfect! Thanks!!!
My GATF did the same thing. I had a small group of convicts in there and they really seemed to help. There is still one little guy in there that the GATF just refuses to eat. Lol
