Silica in salt making alge!?!?

I have been using the petco brand salt. Before I found out that the salt might have silica I was doing WCs like crazy to get the alge off my crushed coral. Does it have silica? Thanks!

If it does it is probably just silica sand to be a filler. I have silica sand in all my tanks for the Sand bed since to get a 4" sb in a 180 and 150 wears only 30$ verse 300$. The silica isn't small enough for algae to use and is stable enough it doesn't dissolve. I don't have any algae in either tank to speak of.

Is it cyano or hair algae? Probably a nutrient or po3 issue. See if you can get ahold of some phosban or chemi clean.

I as well us silica sand in my tank and no Algee issue here either
