i go to the lfs Aquatraders in san bruno california to restock my food supply for my fish and turtles. bought my clown knife fish there and my dads filter odyssea cfs500 and works wonders for his 100 gallon tank. and its been about 2 maybe 3 years i think. runs perfectly. i dont think these chinese knockoffs are bad at all, honestly i dont even feel like it is a knockoff. id go for it but dont need that many gph for my tanks. maybe one day

That's a bummer, you should have bought an Eheim - they can last twenty years, in my experience.

It is the breaking part that really gets expensive...

I've only seen them online and as for the size, I plan on putting them beside my tank for ease of maintenance. This would mean my tank stand will be shorter, which means shorter head to return, which means better gph

I know some have issues with the cheaper filters, however I see just as many the name brands also. Its really a matter of personal taste and ill stick with these with my sump.

the only one i know is san bruno which i go to. when you get in there, get ready to sweat cuz it is as hot as vegas in there for they dont run heaters in all the tanks but use the heater from room temp. i do want to say. they do overstock some of their fish in some tanks. they also have good prices on the fish tanks with free stands. check it out
