Removing scratches from glass?

I doubt the toothpaste will be any effective.. Not sure... But like above said with a compound and buffer you could reduce the visibility but can never remove it ever...

Cerium Oxide. DO NOT allow heat to generate or you could crack the glass. Place a cold wet rag on the opposite side when buffing. Use a variable speed (I use a Dremel) and wool buffing wheel, and try not to stay on any one spot to long...back and forth, back and forth. Its actually very simple process, and really easy to get good results.

If you dont manhandle the buffer like you are grinding sheet metal at a biker garage you will be fine.
 
Why would u trash a tank with a few scratches? You think the fish care?

Or if there are none on the back side, drain the water and flip it 180 degrees

Did that last year, just as bad if not worst.
