OK so here are some things I wanna compare between original and remake
Arnie vs Colin, not even close. But Colin did well, at least he cared enough to hit the gym, bulked up pretty good, I appreciate that but we all knew the shoes were too big to fill
Sharon stone vs Kate, pretty damn close man, but edge goes to stone for playing the hell outta the role. She wins for her attitude and made her character cute, psychotic and a total biznatch. Both actors easy on the eyes. Kate in bedroom scene in the beginning,....... so hawt
Brunette chick vs Jessica biel, I'm torn on this one. Biel's hotter, no doubt but both did good job. I'm leaning bit toward brunette chick. Her character in the original seemed to be more alive and fitting. What does that mean? I don't freakin know
Three boobed chick. Original was better. More skankness, attitude and larger cup size.
Quatto vs Mathias, dude Mathias isn't even worthy of wiping quatto's butt
Cat fight, man this was what I was looking forward to the most. I'm pretty disappointed in the remake's cat fight. Does not do original's justice
Overall, remake loses via no midget prostitutes, no double crossing black cab driver, no mutants, no leaving earth, weak airport checkpoint scene, no mars scene where they fall onto mars surface with no space suit thus making them gasp for air and eyeballs and tongues coming out

I was not the biggest fan of this remake. I prefer the original to this release absolutely. I concur with the statement that this remake was a bit premature and probably should have happened a decade from now. All said on a 10 scale for Sci Fi/ Action Movies I give this one a 7-7.5 while the origanal (I watched twice in theaters when it first came out) was an 8.5-9.
Enjoyed the remake as much as the original. Not sure why one would think there needs to be more time before a movie is remade. Don't hear anyone complaining about the new Batman movies that were remade with even less of a time interval.

Batman's different. You got different villains and is made from comics with thousands of series and stories.
Movies like total recall is an original movie with one story. Prequel or sequel is OK, but too soon for remake for me. Remakes from my childhood is OK, but I was a young adult, I'm not even an old fart yet.

It is my opinion that films should be remade if they are an up grade from the original or a tribute to the original. The new Batman series was a huge upgrade from the original (Cast, Plot, Effects (villains make up etc..) and over all quality of the movie). While this new Total Recall was not an upgrade in any of these categories. I was expecting some spectacular CGI such as when they show the atmosphere maker on Mars in the original film or the scenes where Arnie and other characters in the films heads almost exploded and the new remake did not come close. I say a decade from now to make the remake as there is none who is close currently to filling the shoes of Arnie in this film. Plus the overall plot to me was not as good as the original. It was a good Friday night movie however to me its not close to being as good as the original.
