You giving advice on how to keep fish alive is like going to a whore for marriage counseling.
I don't know how you came from a poorly design filter to how to keep fish alive, but please, there're kids on this forum. We don't need to know what your marriage counselor advised you and your better half Al D-az! Save it!

Why can't someone offer suggestions and critque someone else's sump on this thread? Why should it always be praise and "your sump is so awesome" type comments? No one learns anything that way. Even the best guys could improve their setups with suggestions. No one ever learns how to make their sump better if everyone just posts smiley faces and rainbows when a guy shows pics of his sump.

People can offer suggestions, IF it needs addressed. People sit here and try to "offer help" by meaningless advice. His bio load is so small compared to sheer volume it's not even funny. Most people knowledgable enough to offer advice would know this. They understand that it works and don't question it. Very different then "praise"

A nicer sock holder? Go buy a bigger tank.

Most of the true hobbyists here mold thier ball of clay (big tank) for years and years. IF someone stops and takes pics to share with you then enjoy! Look, ask questions, try to learn something, and maybe others will learn too...

But the truth is most of us busting our humps to build a sump they're proud of aren't showing pics off because of the same exact BS plauging this thread.

Good advice might be something like check into a moving bed filter IF somehow you are able to shoehorn enough fish in there to outcompete the submerged media being utilized. When space is critical the quality of bio comes into account. Bio reactors/moving beds harbor beneficial "spartan" bacteria, the weak/old is constantly culled. However, with as low as the stock level is now, I'm willing to guess the keeper of this monster tank will never stock it with even half what it would take to justify a filter revamp..... So..... Looking at the big picture, for what the owner is planning to do with the tank, NICE JOB on the tank and filter, and thanks for sharing!!!! :)

For once, I agreed with you on that

I didn't come here to educate people on filtration. I came here to educate YOU on how your filter is a poorly designed one.

You are welcome to come over and test my water to see for yourself just how poorly designed my sump is. 0, 0, 10 with healthy fish...unlike what you will see below...

You laughed about the Aros tearing one another to shreds when you posted that video (see below). Very nice of you to film that and not separate them.

These are just the photos that you yourself posted over the last ~2 years...you admitted in several of your threads that there have been many more casualties that you did not post pictures of. Very sad.

I present to you, Monster Fish Killer extraordinaire, Johnny L Nguyen's best work: A result of...

1. Overstocking- cramming as many fish as possible into his tanks
2. Incompetence- running so many tanks that he forgets to plug heaters back in, forgets to unplug heaters, forgets to add water conditioner, resulting in fish that froze to death, fish that were cooked alive and fish that died via chloramine poisoning.
3. Cruelty- attempting to keep hyper aggressive species together in an attempt to look cool and impress his groupies resulting in fish tearing one another to shreds.

I don't want to spoil the ending, but it doesn't turn out good for any of his fish. :(

Again, remind my why I should take your advice on fishkeeping?

Get off my thread John.

Wow...Maybe it's time to get rid of some fish...And clean the tanks.

wow this thread took a weird turn, i always found when it came to internet forums, you can't please everyone and most of the people giving you advice have very little real world experience so take everything with a grain of salt and do your research. i've had some jokers flame and try to 'teach' me on there that have no business keeping a feeder guppy, i just laugh to myself and move on :)

your tank is amazing and so relaxing and will probably still be when it matures unless that green terror goes crazy. loving that peacful scene. my tank is full of bruisers that are always on guard and wanting to fight although they don't fight that much, your tank makes me think i should have gone more peaceful sometimes. you should be proud.
