So what do you do when your thermostat and heater are 1! And how fast do you think that much water is going to cool or heat to even get a temp Chang not that it would be a bad thing for it to go up and down a degree or 2 it would in the wild I Chang my temps to get my fish to spawn from time to time

I distribute my heaters rather than having a pile of them in one place. I also place fairly strong current over them. I would love to have an external sensor, but if I did, I would not put it next to my heaters

I agree with you but I still can't see him having a problem. It just way to much water to Chang temp so easy. I have my heater in my filter and sensor in my tank with hi flow over it I'm just saying its to much water for the temp to go up and down

HOW much flow are you guys complaining about the heat running?

Explain to me how the "flow" is going to slow down.

Do you guys preaching about the baffles even run them? So you do know they create dead spots too? More places for crap to accumulate.

There's upsides and downsides to everything.

I'm not posting this to be cruel. John, I honestly hope you get help and stop this obsessive compulsive behavior. It's obviously not good for your fish and I know it must be putting a strain on your family...your are spending 10 hours per week doing water changes.

You cannot read the information above and not realize that you fit every characteristic of a hoarder. Get help bro.
Man! You brought tears to my eyes! I don't know how did you get from point A to point B, but seeing from how you get from your poorly designed filter to this point, you must be clueless, love the twist and turn. You were wondering why people with big setup didn't post on your thread? Look at the way you handle criticism. Look at what you did when someone showed you the flaw of your filter. I feel sorry for you. Your parents must did a number on you, to turn you to a person with such low self-esteem and full of rage. Or is it true that you can take a Cuban out of Cuba, but can't take Fidel Castro out of a Cuban? Learning is an ability, and not everyone was born with it. I'm not surprise to see this outcome. I've said enough on how you, and your setup look alike, look nice, but empty and poorly designed. There's no need to beat a dead horse. Enjoy being yourself, D-az!

Were not talking about a canister which gets its water from the canister which can be slowed by the filters clogging. Here water just flows fast through the sump and into the pump outlet. The filter is the socks and those with either filter or overflow at a point. The water flow will never decrease which is the point. When I get home I want to take a video of The water flow in my sump. I can show you the pump sucking water in the vortex created by the sump and what. Who wants a video of a sump similar that will show all the water flowing and moving very fast? I'm not going to let anything loose to go into the pump but I am sure would like to show you the crazy flow in the sump. I have 1200 Watts of heaters same 300 Watt jagers. One thing people need to remember is that these heaters are huge you can't just place them anywhere and mine just sit in a line across the bottom of the sump. Works great most of the time only one is on but two or all four will fire up if needed but at times they are all off taking it easy waiting for the next time they are needed. I have them all adjusted a little different bit they all are close so that they take turns turning on and off and it's not the same one on all the time. More than anything adding covers to the top of the tank and the sump made everything that much better.

How is that BS? This is basically the same concept of those heater in the canister concepts. The trouble with those is that when the water flow reduces, the heating became uneven. It is always good to have the sensor at the target area than close to the heating element.

Don't even reply to him. He has always wanted attention on here. He cares for nothing else.

Well, proof would be in the pudding. Has this setup been through a winter yet? In an unheated room, for me the same eheim(I have only 2 300 watts at each end of my tank with water flow over them drops about 2 degrees for me( 80 to 78) even across the tank. My tank is 300 gallons. how does op setup perform? Prob with no problems but it is interesting to see a distribution of temperature from one end of the tank to the other.

Again, it is still better to place the sensor in tank where your target temperature is. I don't see why people are arguing about that.

Pump failure. Temp probe in tank leads to completely nuked filter.
