I see that sand all the time at my local HD but never thought of using it in my tanks. I did use the Quickrete multi-purpose sand though but its too white for me. Gonna head to HD after work and grab a couple of bags and try it. Thanks for posting!

I like to use a black sand which isnt quite as dark and uniform in color as tahitian moon sand. Its my favorite substrate so far and its just a bit darker than the quikrete and a bit more uniform if you like it that way. Heres a pic of the sand in my 10g. its not too expensive ($40 for 200lbs) but i did have to do a bit of searching to find it.

Hi, so, is there a "multi purpose" and also an "all purpose"? Went to Lowes and they had I think Multi Purpose and it was much lighter and smaller. Is there a product code number on bag? Thanks, Todd

Finally :) now that I've moved to a town that has this stuff I might have to start replacing my PFS soon...

Ps - will this darker substrate bring out the colors in my oscar and my HRP? How about my cutteri?

Went to Home Depot and they did have the "all purpose" but, it's not the same. It's much lighter and smaller than shown here. I talked to a store manager and asked if it's different around different areas of the country due to heavy weight and low cost in regards to freight. They said yes, it's made regionally and varies. Found some "paver base sand" that was similar though, not as dark as what's in video, but darker than PFS or shown in video and has some small rocks in it too.
