How would a wild fish do in a fish tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on species. Many species in the hobby have not been bred in captivity. Therefore, many fish in the hobby are wild fish and do fine. Look under the native section. Many people(including myself) have collected their own wild fish. So in the end, it really just depends on species, but if you acclimate it and put the fish under the proper conditions and can get it to eat there is no reason it wont thrive

I once kept a longear sunfish in a tank and he did fine got him pellet trained and everything. Some do as well as store bought fish. Sometimes u get lucky with them and they do really well.

Heres some pics of my past native tanks, creek chubs, bass, pickerel, blacknose dace, the one white perch you see was not a competitive feeder and did not eat or do well. All the others made great fish and did very well

heres my 180 native. all fish wild. They do well after a while and it just goes back to the ethics in fish keeping thread...

Do the fish like being fed all the time no worry about preds and what not?

Or, would they rather be in wide open spaces with unlimited travel but food could be scarce and fearing predators
